Forward Backs Himself

BACK at Ladysmead; back with Leigh Robinson; and backing himself to make an impact -

Tivvy’s first signing of the summer has come to the Ian Moorcroft Stadium with just a touch of swagger.

Leighton Thomas first wore the Yellow two years ago during a loan spell from Hungerford Town, prior to which he had been part of a Dorchester side coached by current Tivvy manager Leigh Robinson. His knowledge of the club and its gaffer was an influence in signing up for seconds.

“It's a lovely club,” said the Cayman Islands youth international forward. “I played for Leigh about four seasons back at Dorchester. I thought he was an ambitious and good guy. He knows me as a player and my plan is to go into a team where I know I can be the best I can be, get back to scoring goals and make an impact.”

Leighton came to the attention of Hungerford – and pretty well everyone else in non-league circles – when he won the Pitching In Southern League Division One West Golden Boot by scoring 31 goals in not much shy of a goal a game for Paulton Rovers.

He said: “I’m strong, physical and dynamic – scoring all types of goals – and I’m spontaneous. I like to come to feet or run alone or behind.

“When I score a good goal, I always celebrate with a back flip. Another strength is jumping high and winning headers, even though I’m only 5ft 9 or 10ins.

“My ambitions are to score as many goals as possible and to get the team into the play offs.

“I know that I will know some of the guys in the dressing room, but I’m happy to build that strong relationship with the new players, also.

“I can’t wait to get started.”

Leighton Thomas is available for sponsorship for the 2024-25 season. If you would like to sponsor him, or for further details, please email chairman@tivertontownfc.co.uk
