FIRST TEAM SQUAD

AT TIVERTON TOWN FC

Dylan Jones

The versatile Welshman first came to the Ian Moorcroft Stadium in the summer of 2022 following spells with Hereford – with whom he reached the FA Trophy final – Salisbury, Cinderford and Merthyr, and has since made 79 appearances and scored eight goals in two campaigns.

Signed as a wide attacker, Dylan, 22, ended last season playing out wide in a more defensive role. At youth level, Dylan represented all three South Wales clubs in the EFL, Swansea City, Cardiff City, and Newport County.

Josh Jones

Imposing centre-back Josh, 28, has barely missed a game for Town since moving to the Ian Moorcroft Stadium in the summer of 2022. After playing 41 times in his first campaign and 37 in last season’s Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South (when he was twice suspended), Josh committed to a third term at Ladysmead.

Prior to coming to Tivvy, Josh had spent five seasons with Larkhall Athletic. He has also played for Clevedon Town and Cribbs.

Niall Thompson

Niall, 30, has been nigh-on an ever-present for Tivvy since moving to Ladysmead in the summer of 2021 following six seasons at Truro City. The former Torquay United youth player made 47 appearances in his first campaign, scoring 10 goals, and added a further 43 matches and three goals to that haul last season.

Right-sided player Niall made 21 EFL appearances with Torquay, during which time he also had loan spells at Worcester City, Weymouth, Bideford and Truro, where, for a short time, he played under current Yellows’ boss Leigh Robinson.

Sam Gleeson

Under-18 defender Sam’s impressive displays in the build-up to the 2024-25 campaign have seen him promoted to the senior squad. He made his first-team debut as a substitute towards the end of the previous campaign.

Sam is currently out on loan at Western League side Wellington AFC and made his Yellows first team debut in the Devon St. Lukes 3-0 win at Axminster Town recently.

Toby Down

The son of former Bideford and Taunton player Ian Down, Toby made a solitary EFL Trophy substitute appearance for Exeter City, as a teenager in 2016, after coming through the Grecians' Academy. He remained at St James Park until he was released in 2018 - having also had loan spells at Weymouth and Dorchester - and joined Taunton Town before following in the studmarks of his dad and signing for Bideford. He became a mainstay of the Robins' defence over the next four seasons with his spell at the Sports Ground culminating in winning the 2022 Devon St Luke’s Challenge Cup.

Prior to that triumph, there had been real family moment for the Downs, when father Ian, briefly back at Bideford after retiring, came on as substitute to play alongside Toby for the final minutes of a game against Mangotsfield United.

Toby then came to the Ian Moorcroft Stadium before moving on to Parkway and, following two years at Bolitho Park and winning Player of the Season plaudits in his second campaign, he re-signed for Taunton at the start of the current season.
