TIVVY manager Leigh Robinson declared himself " proud and positive" after his side's involvement in the Isuzu FA Trophy was ended in a home penalty shoot-out defeat by Dorchester Town.
Yellows went toe to toe with one of the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division's in-form high-flyers for 90 minutes, during which nothing could separate the two sides, the game ending goalless.
Dorchester squeaked through to the third qualifying round tie by the barest of margins, winning the shoot-out decider in sudden death after both sides had missed one of their initial five kicks.
Leigh, who lost influential defender Dylan Jones in the early stages of the match, said: "Of course, in cup football, one team goes through and one team goes home, but I’m proud and positive after today and, despite not progressing in the competition, we can take so much from it.
"I thought the performance was excellent and we were unlucky not to win in 90 minutes, never mind penalties.
"It was a huge blow with Dylan going off in the first five minutes and we had to have a huge reshuffle which ended up in a few people playing out of position, but I was really pleased with our response to this.
"We’ve now conceded once from open play in four games and only three in total in the same period, so this shows we’re moving in the right direction and growing as a team.
"Admittedly, we’ve got to execute slightly better and be more clinical in the final third but that’ll come and I’d be more worried if we weren’t creating or looking a threat.
"The focus now has to be on working hard, continuing the aspects of the game we are doing really well, and - crucially - turning performances into points."
