PREVIEW - Exeter City (H)

Tiverton kick off their pre season in usual fashion as they welcome League One side Exeter City to the Ian Moorcroft Stadium for the annual friendly between the two sides.

It will be Gary Caldwell’s first visit to EX16 as city boss as he was appointed manager of the Grecian back in October last year after Matt Taylor departed for Rotherham United.

Exeter’s pre season preparations are underway and with the additions of Vincent Harper from Eastleigh and Jack Aitchinson from Motherwell, they’ll be looking to get the friendlies off to flying start.

But it hasn’t been all smiles for the reds as major names such as Josh Key, Archie Collins and Jevani Brown have left St. James Park with Jay Stansfield returning to parent club Fulham too.

Meanwhile for Tiverton it’s also been all change this summer at least in the board room as Ian Moorcroft has left the club giving Michael Dunford the reigns to take on the Yellows with his Executive Committee backing him.

Scott and Martyn have made multiple additions to the side bringing in a few new names and returning faces to the squad. Carlo Garside, River Allen, Tom Bath and Jack Rice all come into the squad for the 23/24 season.

With a new chairman and new faces around the squad, it’s looking like an exciting time to be a Tiverton Town supporter and with a star lineup for pre season, The Yellows will get some good tests in for the summer before they go into the campaign.

When we spoke to Scott Rogers about tomorrow night's fixture he had this to say: "I really appreciate Gary bringing his team down. The game really is so important to us financially and makes a huge difference to helping the club survive at the level were at. I think he did a great job taking over from Matt and comfortably securing league one status in the first year back up and we wish him all the best for this season."

Exeter City’s last game ended in a 3-2 win over Morecambe which ultimately relegated the Shrimpers on the final day of the season with a Stansfield hat trick signing off his time on loan at St. James Park

Meanwhile Tiverton was unfortunate to lose to a Winchester City side on the last day of the season, a 4-2 defeat on home soil with Niall Thompson and Ed James with the goals.

Last time the Grecian visited TIMS was a shock result for them as they’d lose to Tiverton 2-1. Something which doesn’t happen very often in the fixture.
