MATCH PREVIEW - Brixham (a)

Brixham Athletic v Tiverton Town

Match Preview

Tivvy’s pre season preparations continue as their 5th game of the pre season campaign see’s the Yellows travel to Western League Brixham Athletic on Saturday with an earlier Kick Off at 1pm.

Tiverton are getting closer to full fitness and as the results against Yeovil and Bath City have shown, the squad is nearly there to its full potential and Tiv are certainly building up to Saturday’s friendly as they take on a newly promoted side to the Western League in Brixham.

A 2-2 draw with Bath City showed hints of quality and passion within the Tiverton side as the Yellows were 2 up at the break thanks to Jamie Richards and Matt Britton. Bath did however go back level through with goals from Dan Hayfield and Luke Russe.

But the main story of the match was welcoming back Alex Fletcher to The Ian Moorcroft Stadium after 8 months on the sidelines due to a nasty head injury. He was welcomed by a guard of honour and greeted all the Tiverton and Bath City players just before kick off.

Brixham Athletic’s rise up the league’s has shown mass spirit and has been a great process for the Fishermen as they were only reformed back in 2012 as a result of a merger with Brixham Villa and already have made their way back to the 9th tier of English Football and even made it to the last 16 of the FA Vase last season as they sadly lost out to Corsham Town 2-0.

Brixham Athletic currently play at Wall Park and are managed by duo Tim Porter & Jason Couch who have transformed the South Devon side into a competitive team ready for the Western League where they’ll be taking on clubs such as Barnstaple Town and Bridgwater United.
