ON the eve of their season-opening visit to Merthyr Town, Tiverton Town have boosted their first-team squad with two loan signings.
Midfielder Farren Simons has joined from Truro City, while Torquay United goalkeeper Matt Wonnacott makes a swift return to the Ian Moorcroft Stadium after shutting out his team-mates in the Gulls' recent 3-0 pre-season friendly victory.
Natural No. 10 Farren began his youth career at Torquay before progressing to become a scholar at EFL Championship new boys Derby County, from where he was released at the end of last season.
Matt, 19, also started his career at Plainmoor, where an extremely successful start to his career attracted the attention of EFL side Wigan Athletic.
He penned a professional contract with Latics after helping Torquay Uner-18s win the South West Counties Youth League, Wotton Printers Devon Youth Cup, and Gary Else Memorial League Cup trophies.
Having progressed through the ranks with the Latics, a successful loan spell with Northern Premier League Division side 1874 Northwich last season saw Matt gain his first taste of regular first-team football before he re-joined the Gulls during the summer.
Welcome to the IMS, lads.
