“HEART” is a word that many Yellows’ fans would reach for when describing Dylan Jones.
The Welshman is the epitome of that largely indefinable quality that you know it when you see it, even if you cannot fully describe it: a heady concoction of can-do passion; indefatigability; and a willingness to go the extra mile for the common cause.
Many clubs in the Pitching In Southern League would love to have some Dyl in their mix: Tiverton have him and that suits the 22-year-old, who signed a season long contract at the weekend, just fine. He feels at home, and you home is…well, you know where home is.
“My heart has always been at the club, since I've been here,” he said. “It's my third season with Tiverton. I've built a lot of strong relationships with people at the club and I'm close with a lot of the boys.”
Also, it has to be said, with the Ladysmead fanbase.
“The support is massive,” he said. “Even after games when it hasn't been the best of performances from the team. When you come into the clubhouse, people shake your hand and are always supportive. Everyone's so friendly, no matter what the result.”
To those loyal Tivvy supporters, who have endured a stuttering start to the season, Dylan has a message.
He said: “Trust the process. I feel like we’re going to have a good season; it’s just been a bit of a tough start.
“I think it will be a positive season and I think we’ve got the tools we need to get where we need to be.”
