Handy Bernard

YOUNG midfielder Josh Bernard has joined Yellows on a three-month loan from Plymouth Argyle.

The 18-year-old teams up with fellow Pilgrim goalkeeper Zak Baker at Ladysmead after a spell earlier this season at Tavistock.

Tivvy assistant manager Ben Gerring, who came through the Home Park ranks himself, said: "We’re delighted to welcome Josh to Tiverton Town. He is a central midfielder we’ve known about for a few months and one we’ve kept an eye on

"He's a hard-working box-to-box midfielder with a goal threat, an excellent work-ethic and good presence, which, as we know, is needed in the Southern League Premmier Division.

"He has already experienced men’s football this season with Tavistock and we’re very much looking forward to welcoming Josh into our group and helping his football development.

"As always, we thank our friends at Plymouth Argyle, and especially Kevin Nancekivell, for trusting us with another of their young players."

Josh signed his first professional contract in the summer, after coming through the Argyle Community Trust's Football Education Programme when he failed to win a scholarship at Home Park.

He was given his pro contract after a fine season with the Pilgrims' Under-18s last year, when Argyle won the Youth Alliance and Merit Leagues.
